A Prayer That Never Fails
By Sadhvi Vrinda Om
Paperback | e-book
Is it possible to free your mind of negative thoughts? Well, meditation is a proven technique but is
it enough?
Sadhavi Vrinda embraced renunciation in the year 2013 and
became a disciple of OM Swami. During the initial years of her spiritual
journey, she struggled to take control of her wandering mind. She had locked
all her sad memories and decided to move on in life, but her mind won’t listen
and like an uninvited guest intrude into her mind space languishing her spiritual growth.
“That peace and control that I had come to love about my
life, was, in reality, at the mercy of angry, restless and negative emotions”
she says.
So how did she come out of this cynicism?
She accredits all the success to her guru’s teachings and
says that she has now become a stable and balanced person. Her focus has improved and she is happily moving ahead in her spiritual endeavor.
“A Prayer That Never Fails” is her attempt to share her
guru’s teachings with a greater audience who like her are struggling to find a
way to happiness.
Who is OM Swami?
Sadhvi Vrinda's guru OM Swami is an MBA graduate who gave up multi-million-dollar
business to become a monk. He has dedicated his life to meditation and tantra.
He has written many books on spirituality. He stays in an ashram in Himachal
Pradesh. Check out more about him on his website https://omswami.org/
I have also reviewed one of his books titled “The Hidden Power of Gayatri Mantra” click here to read it.
About the Book
The book comes with a vibrant book cover, 205 pages and contains an afterward written by author's guru OM Swami.
The book is divided into two parts.
The first part is titled “Know Yourself”.
In this part, author
talks about general human behavior tendencies and how to overcome them.
To emphasis the subject of the chapter, author has shared stories from
her life and some from the followers of OM Swami. In the end of each
chapter, she talks about what is her guru’s thought about the subject.
Below is a quick summary of what I understood from the
chapters in part 1
In the second part author talks about “7 Spiritual Practices
to Catapult You to Happiness”. Here the author shares how by embracing simple
spiritual practices she was able to become a balanced and happy person.
Below is a summary of what the 7 spiritual practices are and
how to embrace them?
What did I like?
In the first part of the book, there is an interesting
chapter on “biology of a woman” where the author talks about how a woman is
biologically programmed to seek love.
“Love is an oasis that a woman keeps looking for throughout
her life. Nature has created us to nurture, to shower care and affection and
receive them in return” she says.
I was patiently reading this chapter to find out what her
guru has to say about it.
Checkout what OM Swami has to say
“ Wherever you are in life, just be there. Don’t chase
anyone or anything; don’t run after love. If you keep doing what you do with
sincerity and hard work, love will find you. it’ll come to you.”
It’s such a powerful insight, I found myself totally agreeing with this.
I also liked the chapter on “the missing link” that talks
about respecting each one you are associated with.
The author says “what a lovely thing respect is! It’s like a
secret spell that once cast can undo so many wrongs”
This is so true and I hope this insight stays with me throw-out my life.
My Recommendation
Have you ever wondered about renunciates? What is their life
like? Why do they choose the spiritual path?
Well, this book gives you a sneak peek into the life of a
renunciate. You can get some idea of what the day-to-day activities of a
renunciate are, what are their fears? What are their rewards?
Besides this what the author talks about are simple practices.
You might have read about them in other self-help books but what makes this
book interesting are the author’s personal narratives.
Sadhavi Vrinda clearly articulates in the book what actions
she took and what did she achieve by following her guru’s teachings. Kudos to the courage and strength shown by her
in writing this book.
Check it out.
