Spread across 10 aceres of land the Swami Narayan temple in Pune presents a picturesque site with beautiful gardens, carved pavilions and hills in the background. This temple is constructed by BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha) a socio-spiritual Hindu organization.

BAPS Swami Narayan Temple is perhaps the only Swami Narayan Temple in Pune.  BAPS believes in celebrating Indian culture and therefore BAPS build temples that are architectural wonders. BAPS has built more than 1100 mandirs around the globe including the largest temple complex of India, The Akshar Dham temple in Delhi.

The Swami Narayan Temple, Pune was inaugurated in FEB 2017 and has quickly become immensely popular within a short time span. I often visit this temple with my family. With each visit, I can see that the number of visitors is growing. 

In this blog, I will talk about the Swami Narayan Temple in Pune and various things that make this place worth visiting. 



About the Temple and the campus: The Swami Narayan Temple Campus is clean and well maintained. The green gardens and carved pavilions give you ample opportunities to click pictures. Visitors are not allowed to step in the garden area. The vigilant group of volunteers makes sure that this is followed.

Architecture:  The Architectureof Swami Narayan temple is Nagara style. The temple is built wholly in stone. The Swami Narayan Temple, Pune has two sanctums, one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. Both the sanctums have different idols of Hindu gods, goddesses and saints. All the idols are well decorated. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum. Elevators and wheelchairs are available for the elderly and people with special needs in the temple complex.

Decorations and festivities: Special decorations on Hindu festivals and other occasions are worth watching. The decorations of Diwali and the ‘Anakut festival’ are very popular.  The temple also hosts a variety of activities and spiritual forums for children and adults.

Swami Narayan temple light show: The temple monument and campus is illuminated with various colorful lights in the night. The colorful lights under the open sky present a brilliant sight to the viewers.

Children’s play area:A small area of the temple campus is also having a children’s play area. Here you will find commercial counters like Jumping jack and mini trampoline for children.  Kids driving toy cars are also available for kids.

Food and parking:The campus also has a food court and ample of parking space.
