It was a flowery Sunday for my family and me as we visited the Empress garden flower show on 18thJAN 2020. Research suggests that the site of flowers can make you happy, can elevate positive behavior and can have a calming effect for a long time. I have experienced this all at this flower exhibition.
A few years back while going through the newspaper my husband happened to see a beautiful pic of the flowers clicked at this exhibition and since then there is no looking back. We are now regulars here and eagerly wait for the exhibition every year.
Each year the empress garden flower show displays distinct arrangements of large congregations of live plants. These arrangements are done with flowering plants as well as foliage plants. It is a visual treat to see so many petunias, marry golds and other flowering and foliage plants together.
The Empress Garden flower show hosted by The Agri Horticultural Association of Western India is also the largest in western India. Along with flower arrangements, the flower show also exhibits various collections of bonsai, Ikebana, rose, other flowers and vegetation along with nature paintings and photographs. The association also organizes various competitions for different categories and distributes prizes for the same. The winners and participants of various categories are labeled separately and are displayed at the exhibition. They also have many nursery stalls displaying plants, fertilizers, planters and gardening equipment at the flower exhibition. In totality, this place is ideal for all the plant lovers. This year I particularly liked the mist or fog generator displayed at the entrance. The live plants arrangement and the mist around it were mesmerizing, for a moment I was transported to a hill station surrounded by verdant hills. Other than this I also liked the planters cut out of bamboo which was displayed at one of the nursery stalls.
If you are a succulent and indoor plant lover you must not miss this exhibition. Many nursery stalls are displaying a large variety of succulents and indoor plants here. They are also priced decently.
Since the flower show is immensely popular it is attracting a lot of people across Pune. Finding a car parking space on a weekend can be a challenge. Even though parking space is available in the garden it is not enough and you will see vehicles parked by the side of the road near the venue endlessly. Also, due to the crowd finding a perfect selfie is difficult. But these challenges should not hinder you from visiting this place.
